![]() You're better off with one of the many BBs with better secondaries, or aircraft, or sonar/radar. As it is, because team-play is rather secondary in WoWs and because you can't count on your teammates knowing their aft from a hole in the ground, Nelson falls short. If team-play was emphasized in World of Warships (and if the game actually had a skill-based MM mode), then this would be the gold standard for battleships. It needs ships to spot and screen for it, it's slow as molasses, but it also can't sit at 20km and snipe. ![]() But the Nelson has the weaknesses that battleships have largely gotten away from. All of the things that battleships are supposed to be, bristling with huge guns and highly survivable, the Nelson is. The Nelson is battleship turned up to 11. Sure, you can clean up if all that's left in the game are CAs and BBs, but if you're stuck trying to mop up DDs or CVs, you're hosed (battling CLs can go either way). The reason why I keep coming back to the paradox of the ship having lots of positives but being non-competitive is because it lacks carry potential. So, after the most frustrating game of WoWs that I can remember, it finally clicked for me as to what the Nelson was really lacking: carry potential.
