![]() My reasons for creating new folders and moving files have to do with the creation of slideshows and the convenience of having all files being used in a common folder. It's easier and quicker than using Windows and not something offered as a simple feature with FastStone. Simply pull up the thumbnails, use CTRL mouse click to select the image which you want to move and use the move feature. I find the Irfanview "move" feature very useful. I do lots of file movement from and to different folders. He didn't ask for detailed differences but along that line, it would be no more informative for me to explain why I prefer Irfanview than for you to explain why you prefer FastStone. The OP asked for "alternatives" to FastStone. It would be informative to the OP if you explained why. I've also used both extensively and of the two I personally prefer Irfanview although I have both installed on all my systems. It depends on what you need the program for. Since I have used both programs extensively I have to say that Irfanview is nowhere near as powerful and versatile as FastStone. Someone in the forum here recently reported making a purchase and never receiving any further contact. There's been nothing new happening on that website for years. Just be careful about suggesting Fast Picture Viewer to anyone today without first contacting the developer to see if he's still alive and active and currently honoring online purchases. I've had that for a long time myself (and also FastStone Image Viewer, along with several other programs with varying degrees of overlap). It doesn't generate thumbnails because it doesn't need to. Not free but reasonable and a lifetime license. I was with it in the early days, making suggestions for improvement they pounced on. Yeah, I noticed there haven't been any updates for a while, but since it already did everything I wanted, didn't notice they'd gone missing in action.
